2016 Murri Carnival

Jake and Billy competed in the 15 Years age group and played for The Sunshine Coast Bunyas.
Congratulations to Year 9 students Jake Smallhorn and Billy Cranwell who played at the 2016 Deadly Choices Arthur Beetson Foundation Murri Rugby League Carnival head at Redcliffe’s Dolphin Oval on September 21– 24.
The carnival is renowned for showcasing outstanding Indigenous rugby league talent with teams from the Gold Coast in the south east to Badu Island in the Torres Strait travelling to Redcliffe for a festival of footy and cultural events.
Importantly, the carnival is much more than a series of rugby league games as it also has a major focus on health and education. All players have to complete a “Health Check” as a requirement to participate and all Under 15 male participants must have a 90% school attendance rate in the three months prior.
