Arts Update

28/04/2016
Term two is an exciting time for students and staff in The Arts Faculty. Our classrooms are buzzing with the sounds of happy students working well and learning in Dance, Drama, Music, and Visual Arts. The Year 11 and 12 Drama class are off to see Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” at the Playhouse, QPAC on 4 May , and the Junior and Senior Dance Eisteddfod Teams are working hard in preparation for their first Eisteddfod on the Sunshine Coast on 6 May. They will then compete at the Brisbane Dance Eisteddfod on 20 May  (Seniors) and 26 May  (Juniors).  Our Instrumental Music Program is going well with students attending their lessons and Concert Band rehearsals on Friday mornings before school. They are gearing up to showcase their talents at the upcoming Fanfare competition held at Banksia Beach State School on June 1 and are also busy preparing for a performance at the Anzac Day service on Friday 22 April. Good luck to all students who are competing and representing our school!!
Last term, our Senior Art students attend the ‘8th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art’ (APT8) exhibitions at the Gallery of Modern Art and Queensland Art Gallery at Southbank. It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to view artwork in a professional context. The students thoroughly enjoyed the day as seen in the accompanying photographs. The Year 11 Visual Arts Class also had an enriching learning experience with guest artist, Lyndon Davis from Gubbi Gubbi Cultural Education, coming into the classroom to share his knowledge on Aboriginal Art and local landscape and history. Again, the students thoroughly enjoyed this experience and have been able to apply their new learning to their work.
We look forward to busy, productive and successful term in The Arts. Thank you to parents and students for supporting The Arts at Caboolture State High School.
