Instrumental Music

CONGRATULATIONS to Rachelle Young (Yr 10; Trombone), Callum Young (Yr 8; Tuba) and Kurt Haggard (Yr 9; French horn) who were nominated and successful in securing a position in the Griffith University State Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP) that ran during the September school holidays.
This well-respected program brings together the finest young musicians, under the tutelage of a team of eminent international and national conductors, in a world-class environment.  Its pursuit of excellence defines it as the highest quality performance avenue available to young ensemble-based instrumentalists outside of the Queensland Conservatorium and the Young Conservatorium.   This was a huge honour for Rachelle, Callum and Kurt, as students were nominated from all around Queensland for very few positions that are available.
The workshop concluded with a Grand Finale concert on the final day, which I was lucky enough to attend. They performed exceptionally well and did our school proud.  Well done students!
