Library News

Semester 1 is well and truly over and there’s a big bite out of Term 3 too. It’s all a bit of a whirlwind as usual. So what’s been happening?
Reading, Reading and More Reading
On the curriculum front, Year 8 English students have just completed their Semester 1 ‘Reading Rocks’ task. Not only has this been an assessment piece in English but also our top readers are collecting points for the big prizes at the end of the year. Current front-runners are Angel Huntington, Kirsty Barnes, Nikita Baldwin and Riley Hamilton though a host of other students are close on their heels. The Semester 2 theme for reading is “Beyond Belief”: fantasy, sci-fi, horror, magic, steampunk, paranormal and future being our main reading genres. Don’t forget to get your reading and activities signed off on.
Year 7s are also involved in reading each week and continuing with their reading journals while Year 12 students are just about to conclude their Wide Reading assessment task. They have had all year (some even started at the end of Year 11) to finish books, and essays are in the pipeline.
Chinese Year of the Dog
To celebrate the Chinese Year of the Dog, the library has been displaying student and staff dog photos. It’s been a lot of fun and participants were involved in a lucky draw for three Pet Barn Vouchers a few weeks ago. The winners and all the photos can be found below. Thanks to Mrs Jorgensen for organising this.
Here to help
As always, we’re here to help in any way we can whether its book recommendations, help with research or more general help with assignments.
