North Stradbroke Island Biology and Science 21 Camp

20/03/2017
At the end of Week 5, the Biology class and two Science21 classes departed to North Stradbroke Island for their field studies camp. We stayed at the picturesque Point Lookout SLSC located between the gorge and Main Beach. Throughout the 3 day camp, the students studied the following ecosystems: mangroves, fresh water swamp, sand dune succession, beach erosion and fire study site. During their museum tour, the students were informed about the history of the Island including the controversies that development has brought to the island.

Student and teacher comments:

Emily Neve: “I liked Ms Ralph’s bed time story, the activities and when Mrs Robertson fell over”
Sarah Dale: “It was very fun and very interesting”
Sophie Hartley: “What a great view”
Peter Ryan: “How great to spend my last camp with a wonderful group of students and such dedicated and enthusiastic staff”
Fiona Robertson: “This could be one of the best groups I have had the pleasure of taking on camp. They should all be proud of their effort and behaviour.”
