Shazura speaks out..

Shazura Lawrence
Over the last few years, our school’s fine tradition of participating in National public speaking competitions has been sadly missing.  On the first of May, Shazura Lawrence (Year 10) rekindled this fine tradition by participating in the Sunshine Coast heat of the Rostrum Voice of Youth Competition.  Shazura presented a seven minute speech entitled “The End of the Beginning”.  While other competitors discussed the merits of Harry Potter as “A Good Read”, Shazura challenged the audience to contemplate the “next generation” of humankind, one where people strove to be the very best they could be.  Her thought provoking, engaging, honest and open presentation earned her second place on the night.  This is truly an amazing result, given it was her first attempt at public speaking in a field of fine seasoned speakers.
Congratulations Shazura!
