THE ARTS FACULTY - ENGAGING IN LEARNING!

23/03/2016
School Spirit is an important part of our school culture.  Getting involved in extracurricular and co-curricular activities greatly enhances your experience of school life.  Take a look at ways you can participate in The Arts Faculty.
The Instrumental Music program, has a strong and established culture within the school.  Students who join the program have the option of loaning an instrument for the year, for rehearsal at home, band practice, performances and lessons at school.  Students receive a 30 minute lesson once a week, in a small group of generally 5 or fewer students.  Students receive both the loan instrument and lessons, at no cost.  Therefore, the financial advantage of furthering your instrumental music learning at school is significant.   The days for lessons this year are Mondays and Fridays.  Students attend Concert Band rehearsal Friday before school and selected students are individually invited to join our second ensemble, The Drum Line.  The benefits of joining the Instrumental Music Program are many.  Taking the opportunity to be part of a program with high achieving students from across all year levels is an excellent place to start and to continue your high school journey.
Our Dance Eisteddfod Teams are formed by high achieving students who not only audition successfully to make the team, but who consistently display appropriate effort and behaviour in class across the school, as a prerequisite for their selection on a Dance Eisteddfod team.  Again, this promotes high achievement for the students from Year 7 through to Year 12.  It is a positive and productive environment to be a part of in the journey through high school.  Both the Junior and Senior Dance Eisteddfod teams rehearse each week during their allocated Sport lesson and in the lunch hour.  They compete at the Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast Eisteddfods, as well as showcase event, DanceEd in the Spotlight and of course, the always anticipated annual Dance Night, here at school.
The Tech Crew at Caboolture is formed by students who control the lighting, sound and stage management of our productions and events at school.  Students in the Tech Crew work behind the scenes to support the success of our productions and events.  This crew brings together motivated, capable and diligent students from across the school.
Throughout the year, student work, from in and out of the classroom, can be presented, performed or displayed at our showcase events like Open Day or on our Arts Nights, throughout the year.  Staff, parents and students alike thoroughly enjoy these nights as it’s an opportunity to see our students striving with focus, courage and creative flair!  Check out these photos of our Year 10 Drama class, in Dress Rehearsal, for their Realism performances.  Students are performing scenes from Tennessee Williams’s play, ‘A Streetcar Named Desire.’
