Year 12 Report

23/11/2015
As we wind down towards the end of the year, and the end of 12 years of schooling for our senior students, our focus has continued to be on making memories.  The Senior Formal is always a key event on our school calendar and what a night it was! We gathered for the pre-formal outside the school from 4:30pm for photographs before the students climbed into a variety of fun (not to mention large!) vehicles to make their way into Cloudland for a night of great food, dancing and more photographs.

‘Formal was such a surreal experience for me, getting dressed up and feeling fancy, but what I enjoyed the most was seeing the rest of my grade so happy and beautiful. The effort put in from the whole night was so rewarding to see in action.’   - Jetta

‘Friday the 16th of October was full of laughs and love, what a perfect way to end the year!’  - Matt

Our last fundraising event for the year was the Slave Auction and Day which were held one week apart so owners could plan their costumes and rules. This is our largest fundraiser run by Year 12 students and plenty of students and teachers put their dignity on the line for a good cause, raising over $700. The day saw beautifully dressed male princesses, babies in nappies with dummies, cross dressers, Dracula and (her) very own bat, tennis players, a 90s boy band and many other creative ideas running around at morning tea and lunch entertaining all and sundry. Thanks go to all the Year 12s and staff who volunteered as slaves and to everyone who spent their hard earned dollars on both purchasing and outfitting the slaves.

Our very last event was Valedictory last Thursday night. A huge thank you must go to all the staff and students who helped to organise this fantastic event farewelling a super group of students. The Year 12 dance girls, Joseph and Klynt, and Jayden Smith all performed brilliantly and Callum, AJ, Declan, Jetta, Isaac, Shazura and Matt spoke beautifully.

As this is my final report as year level coordinator for the 2015 cohort, I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all the students for the memories and laughter, hard work and dedication. However, these graduates couldn’t have done it without their loved ones and families – thank you to everyone who cooked, washed, cleaned, chauffeured, assisted with homework and study, supported, cared for and loved these wonderful young people. They are evidence of and credit to all your hard work and patience.
