Year 11 News

It has been a busy start to the term for our Year 11s.  It’s great to see that so many have chosen to finish Year 12 and complete their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE).  We have also welcomed a large number of new students into our cohort and trust that they will enjoy their senior years at Caboolture State High School.
Our Induction ceremony was held last week.  Congratulations to the Triple S Leaders (Year 7 mentors) and the Student Council representatives who received their badges.  Congratulations also to Alex Colvin who has been selected as part of the QUT Future Leader program.  This program runs throughout Year 11 and 12 and gives Alex the opportunity to engage in workshops focussing on the challenges of leadership at the various QUT campuses.
Students have heard from Mrs Thompson, Head of Senior Schooling, about QCE requirements and also from Mr Boxall who has provided information about appropriate referencing techniques in the senior school.
During Terms 2 and 3, all Year 11 students will complete the BRAKE Program.  This is a driver awareness program which is worth one QCE point.  Attendance during Access sessions each Thursday morning is imperative if students are to complete all associated modules and gain this QCE point.
·         There are a small number of students who have textbooks and novels outstanding from 2014 and 2015.  Please return these to the Book room as soon as possible.
·         Subject changes should now be finalised.
·         Use your student diaries so you can manage your time wisely.
·         Follow correct uniform and jewellery procedures as you are setting an example for the younger students.
·        Maths tutoring every Monday afternoon in F Block from 3 – 4pm.  Talk to your teacher beforehand and bring along some work.
Please get in touch if I can support your child in any way this year.
