Year 9 News

24/02/2016
Welcome back students. You are now in Year 9 and officially the leaders of our Junior Secondary cohort. This means you are role models for our incoming Year 7s, Year 8s and to each other. You have the power to positively influence your peers and, as they say, with great power comes great responsibility. You will be faced with many new and exciting opportunities this year so challenge yourself, be involved.
It was pleasing to see 129 Year 9 students represent their sporting houses at the annual swimming carnival. A special congratulations must be made to the students who represented our cohort in the relay and won second place overall. Well done students.
A shout out must also be made to the students who attended the Science competition. The group finished in third place out of the eight schools attending.
February 11 marked the school’s inaugural Investiture Ceremony where the Senior and Junior Secondary School Captains and Vice Captains and House Leaders were presented with their leadership badges. This is an important and necessary event where school leaders are acknowledged for their efforts.
Year 9s, I would like to leave you with a challenge for the year; reflect upon your first year of high school, was it all that it could have been? Think about the type of year you want to have this year and what you need to do in order to make it happen.
To all of the Year 9 students, have a wonderful year!
