Trent Kembrey, one of our Year 12 students, received the amazing news that he is eligible to attend and compete in the WorldSkills National Championship & Skills Show 2020 in Perth later this year. The National Championships will showcase Australia's best young apprentices and trainees as they compete to achieve the title of National Champion within their skills level. The event is forecast to attract over 15,000 visitors, industry leaders, experts and top education providers over three action-packed days.
After completing his Certificate II in Automotive Electrical Technology last year, Trent went on to compete in the State WorldSkills Championship in mid-2019, in his category of Vocational Education Training in School (VETiS) - Automotive Services, through Bracken Ridge TAFE.
He won first place, and was awarded a Gold Medal for his skills displayed during the competition and was then nominated to compete at the National Championships 2020.
Trent reminds us what persistence and excellence can achieve at any age. We send him our very best as he takes on this next opportunity with all the vigour and humility we have come to know from this young man.
Definitely one to watch as he sets his sights on an apprenticeship within the mines as a Diesel Fitter.
