If you had a delicious breakfast this morning of cereal with milk, lovely fresh fruit and you are wearing your school uniform – an Australian agriculturalist has had something to do with it! Agriculture has the ability to change lives and show people that you care when producing food and fibre to nourish the body.

Agriculture at Caboolture State High School is based around the vision that all children can learn and that agricultural education can change lives and outcomes for all. There is simply no limit to the opportunities that agriculture can afford to a student with many unique and innovative careers right here in South East Queensland. Agriculture is simply not a career in a hot, dirty and dry environment where you ride around in a tractor for hours on end without talking to anyone. Agricultural careers occur right in the middle of the busiest cities in any country all over the world.

At Caboolture State High School, our agricultural curriculum is interactive, vibrant and engaging for all students to experience and develop a range of knowledge and skills across many different animal and plant industries. The Agricultural Farm is located on approximately 4 hectares with an extensive range of agricultural production ranging from a cattle, alpacas, sheep, chickens, fish and redclaw, European honey bees, macadamia trees, native timber trees, grazing pastures, vegetable cultivation paddocks, a horticultural nursery and a hydroponic plant system.

Throughout the year levels, student work is focused around the Technologies and Science Inquiry Skills curriculum with a strong emphasis on technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. All farm production has a central focus on productivity and yield of animals and plants and how decisions can be made to achieve optimum production targets and goals. The farm gates are open, so come on down to experience the wonders of Agriculture.
