Andrew Lofthouse attended Caboolture State High School from 1976 to 1980.  He played soccer and basketball and won a Sporting Blue in 1979.  In 1980, Andrew was Captain of Turrubul House, and participated in the Lions Youth of the Year.  He completed an Arts Degree in Media Studies at Griffith University, followed by a Teaching Diploma and then taught for two years.  During this time, he became a founding member of the 1980s rock band, Lets Go Naked, with which he still plays.

Andrew decided that teaching was not for him, and he started working in Community Radio, completing a radio and TV presentation/production course.  In 1990, he began working for ABC Radio in Rockhampton, and in 1995, moved to ABC Radio Brisbane.  In 2003, he became the face of Brisbane ABC TV evening news.  He has produced and presented a broad range of programs for both television and radio.  After 18 years at the ABC, Andrew moved to Channel 9 in 2009 where he is still the week night Channel 9 television news co-anchor. 

Andrew is an experienced public speaker and facilitator with a strong interest in promoting charitable causes.  A keen runner and sports fan, he participated in the 2015 New York Marathon to raise funds for Young Care.
