International country music star, Keith Urban, attended Caboolture State High School between 1980 and 1982, with the musicals “Oliver” and “Bye Bye Birdie” holding special memories for him. As a child, his love of country music saw him performing locally, culminating in his winning the Country Music Association of Australia Golden Guitars for Best New Talent (1991), Male Vocalist (1992) and four Instrumentalist Awards in Tamworth.
In 1992, Keith moved to the United States where he began establishing himself on the country music scene. Many years of hard work finally paid off as awards and accolades began to flow including four Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe nomination and numerous ACM, ACA and CMT Awards as well as assorted International Awards. He is the first artist in the Country Music Association Awards history to win the Horizon Award (2001), Male Vocalist of the Year (which he has won 3 times) and Entertainer of the Year (2009).
Keith has long supported numerous charities. Amongst other things, he is an advisory board member at the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and a long time supporter of The Grammy Foundation.
Recently, Keith has branched out into television, working as a judge on 'The Voice Australia' and 'American Idol'. He also continues to tour internationally. In 2012, Keith became the first Australian artist to be inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, which is the crowning achievement for a country music performer.
