The Agriculture Faculty is an interactive and engaging opportunity for students throughout all year levels to experience the wonders of growing plants and caring for animals.
The Agricultural Farm is located on approximately 4 hectares with an extensive range of agricultural production from Cattle, Alpacas, Sheep, Chickens, Fish and Redclaw, European Honey Bees, Macadamia nut trees, native timber trees, grazing pastures, vegetable cultivation paddocks, a horticultural nursery and a hydroponic plant system. There is literally something to spark the interest of any student, with Agriculture your imagination is the limit.
Agriculture at Caboolture State High School has had a long tradition of exhibiting at local and regional agricultural shows as well as the Brisbane Royal Exhibition ('Ekka') with many successes over the years. This strong tradition is an opportunity for all students, no matter your skill level or previous experience to be a part of. Animal handling and showing is generally undertaken in Term 1, 2 and 3, where students attend training sessions to work with animals in preparation for local and regional shows as well as Brisbane 'Ekka'.
The Agricultural Produce displays is a great opportunity to let your creative flare run wild – have you ever wondered how a living grass wall can be constructed and stay alive for 10 whole days? Have you ever wondered how engines can be designed and built to be a jumping kangaroo, a cow and calf walking through a paddock? If you love problem solving and using your hands to make things, then the agricultural display team is for you. Once again there is no previous experience or skills required, other than your imagination and some hard work.
In 2021, the CSHS Show Team is looking to expand the opportunities students have to get involved down at the farm with the opportunity to prepare and show poultry at a number of local agricultural shows. All extracurricular activities are undertaken through Summer and Winter Sports programs.
