Excellence in community service
Craig Davis and his wife,
Helen, (nee Perkins) both attended Caboolture State High School, Craig
graduating in 1994 and Helen in 1996. In terms of their school years, Craig and
Helen describe themselves as general all-rounders.
After their marriage,
Craig and Helen joined the Caboolture Apex Club in 2005, a group noted for
their service to the community, and their work with the Club has framed their
lives since then. Craig’s strengths lie in
catering and asset maintenance, whilst Helen has held the offices of President,
Vice President, Secretary and Service Director and has also held a Board
position at the Apex C and K Kindergarten which they have supported for a
number of years.
Their service work
includes Clean Up Australia, national tree planting days, flood clean ups,
chaplaincy breakfasts and co-ordination of, and participation in, the Santa
Sleigh programme. At the Caboolture
Show, the rodeo, the Urban Music Festival, Farm Fantastic, warplane museum days
and multicultural festivals, wherever there is parking to be organised, tickets
to be sold, barbecues to be cooked or bars to be manned, Craig and Helen are
there. Cubby houses have been built and
raffled, trailers built for community groups, and garden maintenance undertaken
for residents who receive Meals on Wheels.
Their support for schools
include adjudicating for the Apex Debating competitions, assisting with the
school breakfast programmes and supporting drug and alcohol measures. There are few school and community groups in
Caboolture who have not benefited from the practical hands-on service of this
dedicated couple.
