Excellence in woodchopping
Kerry Hewitt attended Caboolture SHS from
1960 (Form III at the Caboolture State Rural School) and completed Form IV to Form VI at
Lee Street. Kerry represented the school
in cricket, captaining the First XI in 1963, and was also a Prefect in that
year. He became a teacher on completion
of his studies at Caboolture and is currently retired.
Lindsay attended Caboolture SHS from 1990
to 1994, with Mitchell following in 1991 to 1995. Lindsay travels around Queensland and
interstate, in his job as the mango production manager for Piñata Farms. Mitchell moved to Scotch Creek, British
Columbia, Canada where he works as a lumberjack in the timber industry.

men have claimed:
Kerry: Five times Axe Throwing Champion at the Sydney Show; Four times Australian Treefelling Champion; Reserve World Treefelling Champion in 1984; World Treefelling
Champion in 1986. Kerry still competes and
was inducted into the Australian Axeman’s Hall of Fame in 2012.
Lindsay: Eight times Australian Treefelling Champion;
Reserve Australasian Treefelling Champion; 21 times World Treefelling
Championship Finalist; Reserve World Treefelling Champion twice; Won 600mm
Standing Butcher Block with Mitchell in 2013 & 2018. Lindsay still competes and now gives back to
the sport, acting as a woodchopping steward at local shows.
Mitchell: Seven times Australian Treefelling Champion;
Three times Australasian Treefelling Champion; Six times Reserve World
Treefelling Champion; 14 times World Treefelling Champion, being the current
champion. He competes in the Stihl Timbersports Competition for Canada and has
won the World Championship Best Axe Award Recipient (Lillehammer, Norway) in
2012; Canadian Champion in 2017 and a Bronze Individual World Championship
Medal in 2017. Mitchell is an Australian
Axeman’s Hall of Fame Legend.
